Romans 6:6 ESV
We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin.
Romans 6:6 reminds us that through Christ, our old life—ruled by sin—has been crucified with Him. Sin may still tempt us, but it no longer has the right to define us or control us. In Christ, we are no longer slaves to the patterns and desires that once held us captive.
This truth invites us to live from our new identity rather than continually returning to the person we used to be. Each day we can choose obedience, trusting that Christ has already broken sin’s power. We fight sin not to earn freedom, but because in Jesus, freedom has already been given to us.
