John 15:20 ESV
Remember the word that I said to you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will also keep yours.
Jesus reminds us that following Him does not guarantee acceptance, comfort, or freedom from opposition. Just as He experienced rejection and persecution, we should not be surprised when our faith brings criticism, misunderstanding, or resistance. Faithfulness to Christ is not measured by the approval of others, but by our obedience to Him.
This verse also encourages us to remember that we do not face these challenges alone. Jesus has walked this path before us, and His example teaches us to respond with humility, love, patience, and unwavering trust in God.
Daily Application: When your faith is challenged, resist the temptation to compromise for acceptance or respond with resentment. Instead, reflect Christ's character through your words, actions, and attitude.
Prayer: Lord, give me the courage to follow You faithfully, even when doing so is difficult. Help me seek Your approval above the approval of others and respond to opposition with the same grace, love, and steadfastness You demonstrated. Amen.
