John 17:14-15 ESV
I have given them your word, and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one.
In His prayer to the Father, Jesus reminds us that we are called to live in the world without belonging to its values and priorities. He does not ask God to remove us from life's challenges, opposition, or temptations, but instead to protect us from the evil one as we faithfully carry out His purposes.
This passage reminds us that following Christ does not mean withdrawing from the world, but engaging with it while remaining grounded in God's truth. Our calling is not isolation, but faithful influence. We are to be a reflection of Christ's love, grace, and righteousness in a world that often rejects Him.
Daily Application: As we navigate our relationships, responsibilities, and challenges, we should ask ourselves: Am I allowing the world to shape my values, or am I allowing God's Word to shape how I live and influence others?
Prayer: Lord, thank You for placing me where I am for Your purposes. Protect my heart from worldly influences, strengthen my commitment to Your truth, and help me faithfully represent Christ in everything I do. In Jesus name, Amen.
